Fanelia El Alto, Bolivia Designed by Bolivian architect Freddy Mamani Silvestre, this home is one of over sixty completed buildings designed by Silvestre and his firm as a mixed-use home for the upper class of El Alto. All of his house designs feature a colorful facade, first floor retail, a party space, smaller apartments, and a large penthouse for the owner. Silvestre was born in the Ayamara tribe, an indigenous group native to the Andes and Altiplano regions of South America, and bases his designs on the motifs of Ayamara weaving and ceramics. The futuristic elements are said to be influenced by sci-fi, namely the Transformer movies.
