The Cabildo. 701 Chartres Street, New Orleans, Louisiana. Built in 1799. The Cabildo was built as the center of New Orleans government and served as such until 1853 when it became the headquarters of the Louisiana State Supreme Court. This building housed many landmark events in history such as the signing of the Louisiana Purchase and being the court where the Plessy v. Ferguson decision was made. The Cabildo is now part of the Louisiana State Museum.
