This creole cottage is one of the oldest surviving structures in the City of New Orleans, and lays claim to being the oldest bar in the United States. The building is rumored to have been once owned by the famous privateer Jean Lafitte, and as such was a site of much illegal activity and contraband sales. As with most buildings in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop is said to be extremely haunted.
