Charity Hospital. 1532 Tulane Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana. Built 1939 (6th Charity Hospital.) Unused since 2005. Charity Hospital was founded in 1736, making it the second oldest continually operated public hospital in the United States until it was closed after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. This building is the sixth iteration of Charity Hospital and is on The National Trust for Historic Preservation’s list of America's Most Endangered Places.
